CARPAL TUNNEL AND BACK ISSUES

Oh boy, have I been hit!  No blogging for me.  No weaving.  Not even knitting or spinning.

All of this caused primarily by my crackle-a-day project.  Beware weaving software.  To my knowledge, no possibilities for keyboarding.  It’s a mouse-heavy endeavor.  And was I ever mousing.  Click, click, click, for color color color, warp end, warp end, one after another, weft shot, weft shot one after the other.  And I had been doing this almost daily for close to three months.

Shoot.

I can use left hand for computer but I don’t want to overdo that hand either!   An ergonomic mouse is in the mail.

But I still have to nurse the shoulder and neck issues, as well, as the arm and hand issues caused by all this mousing.  Can’t even thread heddles without waking up at night in pain.

Reading, walking, heat, resting, singing (am studying voice and thank heaven I can still practice!).  At least I have one thing I absolutely love that I can do. I have had relapse after relapse for the past week or so because I have tried to cheat.  Today I finished winding a skein onto a cone.  Big—very big—mistake.   Sigh.

No more cheating.

Oh no! I hope all your bodily ills heal quickly and strongly. Time to take care of yourself!

Peg, I am so sorry. You've had enough physical problems in the past, that should have been your fair share. I'm glad you have other things to do that you love.

have you thought about getting a pen and tablet for your computer? I use mine whenever I am going to be doing heavy graphics work. I can put the tablet in my lap or on the desk or wherever and then the pen is just like a regular pen and you click a button on it instead of using a mouse. Takes a little bit to get used to but after awhile it's easy peasy

Thank you all for your kind comments. I doubt that I will be back soon. Am hoping I can make a slow start sometime in 2-4 weeks, but am not sure. I will just have to be patient. I can be very patient with weaving, but I am very impatient with healing!

Woven'nSpun--I have thought in the past about a tablet and thought of it again with this episode of carpal tunnel, but a good tablet set is far more expensive than a good ergonomic mouse, so I could really justify it only if I need it for the greater accuracy and ease of accuracy it allows when working with graphics. Perhaps someday.......

Peg, sorry to hear about this. Look after yourself and no cheating...
I hope it will heal very soon so that you can get back to what you love doing. Glad to hear that singing is ok :-)
